Brittany Lasch

Winner of the S&R Foundation Washington Award and Astral Artists National Auditions, trombonist Brittany Lasch brings a profound sense of authenticity and commitment to her music-making. Currently an Assistant Professor of Trombone at Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music, she balances a vibrant international performance career with a dedication to commissioning new repertoire, consistently championing the trombone as a compelling solo voice. Her solo appearances include performances with the U.S. Army Band 'Pershing’s Own', Rodney Marsalis Philadelphia Big Brass, and the National Repertory Orchestra. Her playing has been described as “masterful” by the Syracuse Post-Standard and “excellent” by American Record Guide. A frequent featured artist at the International Trombone Festival and the American Trombone Workshop, she has earned numerous accolades, including a first-place finish in the 2017 ITA Quartet Competition with her ensemble, Boston Based. Brittany’s orchestral experience is equally distinguished, having served six seasons as Principal Trombone of the Detroit Opera Orchestra and performed with the San Francisco Symphony, Los Angeles Philharmonic, and Detroit Symphony. Her debut album, Dark Horse (2024), featuring works by Reena Esmail and Martin Kennedy, was recently honored with a Silver Medal from the Global Music Awards. A native of Illinois, she holds degrees from Yale and Boston University and is an Edwards Trombone Performing Artist.
